SOLID HARDWOOD

Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of wood. Because it can be repeatedly sanded, it can last for decades. Hardwood floors can be sanded and refinished over and over again - making hardwood the go-to choice if you’re looking to make an investment that will stand up to the test of time, toddler toys, and dog toenails.

 

What to Remember About Solid Hardwood:

    Due to its natural material, solid hardwood is susceptible to temperature and humidity changes and cannot be installed below grade or in damp spaces such as basements or bathrooms. It must be nailed down and or stapled to a wooden subfloor.

Because it can withstand higher levels of humidity, engineered hardwood can be installed in bathrooms (that don’t have showers/baths) and basements, as well as over concrete subfloors. It can be stapled or glued, or it can float over a subfloor.
